What is glamping and what is retro glamping?
Glamping means “glamorous camping”. It is a form of camping that has all the added luxuries that is not involved in regular camping. Hence why it is called “Glamping”.
When you add the “Retro” to Glamping, it refers to a Retro Caravan Glamping experience. Retro certain style or fashion from the recent past “60’s”.
What types of Retro Caravans do you have?
At Kanasta we have 2 styles of Retro caravans.
The cosy little vintage caravan that sleeps 2 (see below images of our very first retro caravan, Peggy Sue).
And the more spacious retro caravan that sleeps 4.
The 4 sleeper caravans have an attatched annex. These are regularly seen through the older style 1950’s caravan parks.
We use the term “Retro” because our caravans have been lovingly restored and have a rich history tied to the 1950’s. We strive to preserve the retro feel to provide a relaxed and unique experience while staying on the gorgeous Mornington Peninsula. We also offer a unique experience in that each retro caravan has their own personality and name to them.
What is inside the retro caravans?
Our Retro Caravans are well equipped with all your camping needs. They are all decorated and individually named with their own personalities.
Inside our retro caravans you will find everything you need to ensure your stay is comfortable. Each van includes a fridge, microwave, glasses, cutlery, comfy couches and chairs, out door seating, toiletries and towels, storage, bedding and comfortable beds, TV, fan heater, fan for cooling.
What makes staying in our Retro Caravans different?
Each caravan comes equipped with most of the items you need. Unlike traditional camping, you simply walk in to the caravan and relax, you are on holiday.
We have onsite staff always available to ensure you have everything you need.
We are here to service you during your stay.
We pride ourselves on guest satisfaction.
Kanasta CP is situated in the very heart of the Mornington Peninsula. There are so many places to see and enjoy. Please refer to our “what to do on the Mornington Peninsula” page for more information.
We are a small boutique caravan park. This is what makes us different from the rest. We pride ourselves on location, customer service and satisfaction.
As an added bonus we have a BBQ area, games room, play ground area for you and your families enjoyment.
What also makes us different from other retro glamping / caravan experiences is that we also offer an annex in our fleet of “Retro Glamper sleeps 4”.
The attached annex allows for more space.
Who is suited to retro glamping?
People who love to camp but are looking for an easy holiday.
We would suggest you do your research before booking into a Retro Caravan.
We have had some excellent feedback from our guests. We do also understand that staying in a retro caravan is not for everyone. If you are not that keen to walk to the shower/ toilet block, we offer cabin and holiday home accomodation. If you were after something retro, we have Evie and Daisy who have more of a retro interior. Please see cabin accomodation.
How far are the toilet/shower blocks?
Very close! Because we are a smaller caravan park, the toilet/ shower block is just a short walk. With not even a minute walk from some of our glampers this is really the ideal glamping experience.
What is in the Shower/Toilet block?
With Kanasta being established well over 50 years ago, we wanted to keep the original amenity building rather than knock it down, we believe this brings the park its character and charm. The toilet blocks are cleaned daily by our cleaning team and are carefully and well maintained to keep with our high hygiene standards.
How many nights do I have to stay?
We have a two night minimum. Please see the book now button for all our rates. Rates are dependant on the dates you wish to stay and days. For example, during the week it is cheaper to stay than over the weekend (apart from peak periods).
What do I need to bring for my Glamping Experience?
Kanasta Caravan Park provides all your linen requirements, including bed linen , along with towels, face washers, complimentary toiletries. We do suggest you bring suitable footwear to walk to and from the toilet/shower block. We at Kanasta have relaxed and comfortable vibe so bring your robe.
Safety precautions in the Retro Caravans?
Due to safety concerns our Retro Caravans are not equipped with a hotplate or gas burner, but we do include saucepans and bbq tools. Kanasta does have a communal BBQ for your use, we also have a BBQ available to hire for cooking at your site. All the other kitchen basics are included in your glamper (tea & coffee making, plates, cups, cutlery).
